Long Story Short is a montage film which contains “quotes” from the history of kinema ikon until 2018, from experimental film to interactive multimedia. The film has not only a documentary dimension (at the group’s 50 th anniversary!), but also the value of a statement: by cultivating the fragment in a metonymic manner, Long Story Short talks about conceptual stratification, visual hybridization, structural exploration of the medium, collective production and plurality of perception. kinema ikon group is the longest-lived artistic collective in Romania with constant preoccupations for the radical re-evaluation of visual forms and cinematic conventions, as well as for the visionary exploration of technology and interaction possibilities. It was founded in 1970 in Arad, being active in several phases: experimental film (1970-1989), mixed media (1990-1993), hypermedia on CD-ROM and on the Internet plus interactive installations (from 1994 to 2000+), in recent years opting for a hybrid, multimedia experimental approach.
